Born in Berlin, Jürgen Schrape lives and works in Bremen, and teaches historical dance at the Bremen Academy of Arts. He is a frequent guest teacher at other conservatories, among others in Frankfurt, Essen, Dresden and Hannover. He gives courses all over Europe, among others at the Guildhall School of Music in London, the Danshögskolan Stockholm, the Innsbruck Summer Academy, the Oporto Masterclasses, the Utrecht Conservatory, the Chaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Mariinski Theater in St. Petersburg, the Attersee Baroque Academie in Austria, the Toujours Mozart Festivals in Salzburg and Vienna, and the Luxembourg Philharmonie. At the International Music Projects in Bremen he led workshops and performances as teacher of Baroque Dance and Baroque Gesture and as director. Other recent performances were at the Trondheim Festival and in Seoul, South Korea. In addition to his work as a freelance choreographer and theater director, he leads the Compagnie BarockTanzTheaterBremen.
